BLOG-A-LICIOUS BLOG TOUR 10

PUNCTUALITY IS NECESSARY OR OVERRATED?

Punctuality is a habit….a healthy one. It also speaks about one’s discipline and also how we value our time as well as others’.

When we were kids, we had no option but to reach school on time, else we were made to stand outside the main gate which was quiet embarrassing. More than the fear of being punished, we wanted to spend some fun time with friends which would otherwise not be possible once the classes started. So, developed this habit as a kid.

In a city like Mumbai where heavy traffic is a norm, we have to keep in mind the travelling time while making it to an appointment on time. I always carry a book with me to read….it isn’t surprising that a whole book can be read while travelling from point A to point B here.

Impatient, irritable and fidgety….this is me when someone keeps me waiting. I donno , but I feel they are inefficient ( maybe I will be the same, if I put myself in their place, but from the other side I feel they are inefficient) Even if it is a queue in a bank or a grocery store….I am impatient. Waiting at a Doctor’s is a hell for me. There’s a reason for this. If we, the patients are late for the appointment, then the Doctor has the audacity to cancel our appointment. But it is also his prerogative to keep up the appointments, right?

Being a creature of habit, even at home, I have a self-imposed schedule. Please don’t confuse my habit with OCD (Obsessive-compulsive Disorder); maybe you can say a borderline case of OCD! I just cannot afford to be behind my schedule….if I do for any reason, then I switch myself into a fast-forward mode and start completing the chores in frenzy. That leads to some disasters like spilling something in the kitchen, or drop something, bang doors or shelves…..and cursing myself.

Actually finishing my chores on time, leaves me more time to concentrate on other things….mainly my writing. With things-to-do piled up, drains me off my creative energy…..so I keep time and I am the master of my life, just like clockwork! or so I think :)

“Time and tide waits for no one”…..tick- tock, tick-tock…grab it guys, don’t let it slip away.

Funny video to wrap things up:

IS LIFE POINTLESS?

ASHES TO ASHES, DUST TO DUST……SO, IS LIFE POINTLESS?

Rose is “the” flower I love. Period. Even when they are wilted and dying, I see the beauty in them. Even when the petals are falling off, I don’t have the heart to discard them. Such is the beauty of the flower.

“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”

The same holds true for “Life” too. Life’s beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The immanent awareness of the end does not stop us from living.

Our dreams, our aspirations, our relationships, our hardships.....
make us the person we are.

"Thou hast power only to act not over the result thereof. Act thou' therefore without prospect of the result and without succumbing to inaction."- Srimad Bhagwat Gita

"Life is too deep for words. So don't try to describe it- just live it."-Unknown

Carpe diem!! and enjoy this roller coaster ride of your "Life"

SUNSHINE

For http://dversepoets.com/2011/09/20/openlinknight-week-10/..........shine on...

Are you angry?
Or don’t you just care?
Playing hide n seek,
Willing me to dare!

Wanna reach up the sky,
And scatter the clouds,
Search through them,
And call you aloud!

Darkness down here,
Flashes of lightening,
And thunder rolling….
Feels like I am drowning.

Let your rays pierce this darkness
Warm this earth with your brightness.

Showers are welcome
After a storm that’s tumultuous
Like after a brief illness
Life feels wondrous!

Your love makes me glow…
Golden rays upon the horizon
And the rainbow below.

The rivers, the trees,
The flower and the bees….
I & nature existing in Harmony,
Make me come alive like a Symphony!

You, a Knight in shining armor,
Power to change my demeanor,
It is me and you, Forever?

OF JOURNEYS AND BEGINNIGS

For  http://dversepoets.com/  poetics challenge by Claudia…..chug on….

“I soon realized that no journey carries one far unless, as it extends into the world around us, it goes and equal distance into the world within.” – Lillian Smith

As the engine rumbles
Off the station
So does the guts
In anticipation of
Exploits unknown.
The ambrosial blur
Linguistic slur
Of friendship forged
Bonds built
And aborted.
Of new dawn
Novel beginnings
Unknown beyond
And the….
Adventure begins.

BOYS WILL BE BOYS…..A SHORT STORY.

Main Characters – Nidhi, my daughter….15 years.
                               Nishanth, my son….12 years.
                               The receptionist at their school.

THE STORY…….

Nidhi was supposed to get dropped at her tuition classes and send the car to pick up Nishu from school who was there for basketball practice session.

She was late.

Nishu, asks the receptionist to call Nidhi.

She calls and asks- “Is it Nishanth Raj? Oh! Sorry, is this his sister?”

Nidhi, in her class, does not hear properly and disconnects the phone saying it is the wrong number.

She realizes her mistake, calls back, talks to her brother…..all is well.

This incident is being related to mamma at bedtime. And….

Nidhi – “Was the receptionist from the morning shift or the afternoon shift?”

Nishu - “I don’t know.”

Nidhi – “Was she short?”

Nishu – “I don’t know.”

Nidhi – “Short and curly hair?”

Nishu – “I don’t know.”

Nidhi – “Applies dark coloured lipstick?”

Nishu – “I don’t know.”

Nidhi – “The one whose duppatta  ( a long scarf that a wears around her head or shoulders….typical Indian attire) is always falling off her shoulders?

Nishu – “ Arre, I don’t know na. I don’t even know there are two receptionists. Who cares anyway? They all look the same to me.”

Tsk, tsk…..the saga continues…..

WALKING IN THE AIR.

“Have faith in yourself. You are a good writer” – a poet and an artist friend of mine said this to me. Faith? I have. Me, a good writer? This is yet to sink in. But, thanks for the vote of confidence friend.

When I started off as a blog writer a few months back, I suffered from a block after writing a couple of them. The first blog was ‘ok’ to read and the second one was like a high school essay!! Will I be able to write at all? This was my question to myself. Then, I saw the first ‘follower’ of my blog (yes, someone out there was encouraging me.) I waltzed and did cartwheels all over my living room. Seriously, I cannot do both. I was so giddy with happiness that I was knocking things all over the place. J

Yesterday I submitted 2 paragraphs of my part of the story for BlogNostics –’30 day compilation’ and it was published today. After a few hours, Jessica Brant, one of the admins of BN messaged me –“Just wanted to let you know that your part of the story has received over 245 StumbleUpon Views…..Way to go Diva……….I am proud of you, you should be walking on air.” Believe me, I am walking on air. Thanks for the opportunity the various blog groups and sites are providing for writers like us.

A friend once said to me –“If I have to put it in your blogging language it is time to leave the nest and adorn your new literary wings and fly into the new horizon. I would not say all the best because I am sure you will do very well.’ How I value these words!!

Last few days have been amazing. There are more than 50 people following my blog. It is a bit overwhelming too….a huge responsibility. I was added to a couple of poetry groups on FB without being asked to, feels great to be accepted. I was also added to a ‘secret’ blog group and boy, do I feel honoured? Actually, I am humbled by this acceptance because I consider this group as an ‘elite’ group of bloggers. They are seasoned, have been here for a while and have hundreds of fan following. I am the baby of the group. It is like a one big family. Actually, I also feel like a character in one of the Dan Brown’s novel – A member of the secret and mysterious group. The only secret we share is our work and we also have fun.
So, guys this is an ample enough reason for me to feel giddy, heady, and tipsy and knock things all over my place again…..till the feeling lasts.

Thanks and hugs to all those who have been a part of this journey so far.

ENLIGHTENMENT

For the http://dversepoets.com/ ....poets pub. Enjoy!

The sleeping serpent
Lays coiled, dormant
On the red earth,
Self-preserving.
Not for long……..
She lifts her head
Fluidly, gracefully
Wades through the
Orange aqua
Rests on the plexus
Burning with Desire
Of higher consciousness….
Centering herself,
She leaps in air,
Over the green pastures
Towards the Blue sound
Shuddering with
Heightened self-expression
Out off the dark towards
Light, guided by intuition
Until she breaks free
Of all thoughts.
The Vibgyor mergers
Into White of Enlightenment
As she rests peacefully on the
Thousand petaled Lotus.

(This is about kudalini energy, the awakening of the seven chakras towards enlightenment.)

TATHASTU

He gave you life,
A heart and mind
To keep the score
And soar….
Do not confine
Or let fear ground you
Just ask and
Answer he will….
Tathastu.

Shut the seeing eyes
Third eye is the beacon,
The green luminous centre
Steers your way
Do not close
Negate the negative
Just open your arms
And give he will….
Tathastu.

“Ask and it will be given to you;
Seek and you will find;
Knock and the door will be opened to you.”

'GANAPATI BAPPA MORIYA PUDHCHYA VARSHI LAVKAR YAA'

Ten days of festivities and celebrations culminates today. A true sight to behold as all roads lead to the sea. Rains, strong breeze and people oblivious to these, seen dancing bidding adieu to the elephant god.

"Saat bangla ka Raja" on his final journey.....

                                                      Revellers

Band- bhaja

                                                       The final Aarthi

The streets are lined with stalls at regular intervals offering refreshments to all, for free.

The air is electrifying and devotion at its pinnacle........Until next year.
