He was tall, dark (a bit too dark), lean and not-so-handsome,
She was a dream – slim, petite, fair and so very beautiful.
They were husband and wife.
He was a workaholic. He did not have the time to love her or show her his love, nor fulfil her dreams.
She sacrificed her dreams to raise a family without complaints and expectations from him.
They grew old.
She fell ill.
He fed her when she could no longer use her hands…the hands that had toiled for so many years.
He combed her hair, once soft, silky, straight, long and dark…now grey, short and knotty.
He bathed her…the once voluptuous body, now frail with bones jutting out of the fragile skin.
He became her voice, the voice that has sung lullabies to her kids and her grandchildren…now silent.
He held her hand and prayed to God that she be released of her agony as he could not see her suffer.
Today, he has built a shrine for her in his heart where he worships her.
