SENSATIONAL HAIKU WEDNESDAY.

ABSENCE.

Foggy mind’s illusion
Seeking and seeing
Images of delusion.

IT HAPPENS.

How can one explain,
What we feel?
Am as surprised
As you are!
I know this is insane
Love happens
Anywhere, anytime,
Anyhow, all it
Needs is two hearts
Beating as one….
Which are meant to be.

MEET MY FRIEND - TIME.

Hi, meet Time, my friend since birth. Time has been with me just like Shadow. We have been inseparable.

We breezed and ran through childhood wanting to grow-up. Thought growing up was cool.

We arrived at teenage full of stars in our eyes. College, studies, boys, romance and dreams, had fun. Requested Time for more time. “You have time,” was the reply.

Matrimony, family, kids had no time to think anything else. Saw my kids enjoying their time, reminding me that childhood was more ‘cool’ than growing up.

There were times when I was miserable. Dutifully, Time took my hand and pulled me through saying – “good times don’t last, so do the bad times. It is a circle…time heals.”

“I need more time with mom.” – said I.
“Her time is up.” – replied Time.

I cursed Time, raved, ranted, cried and pleaded. Time did not relent. Then, I understood….Time doesn’t wait for anyone or anything. We can’t buy Time.

I started focusing on the things I liked to do and I started enjoying myself with Time.

Time is of essence, Time is good and then at times it is bad, there isn’t enough Time, and then there is so much Time. It is up to me what I do and how I make use of my Time.

A TIME THAT WAS.

It is that time of the year
When winter creeps and chills
Reminding me warming to your smiles.

Looking back at the past,
Memories is all we have got
Of a time young and innocent.

Something stayed through the years
The seasons changed over the years
But, feelings got buried within us.

Cannot wind back the clock
Cannot rewrite the past
Reminiscence of those days, still aches.

We want to move on or not
Life pushes us forward, so just
Keep walking with memories treasured.

160- Ah! FATE.

She slept
So peaceful
And serene
Glad her suffering ended?
Sad, she died young?
Disease & death
Makes no distinction
In life you suffer
In death they suffer
Without you.

Mag 93

NOT JUST A SOFA.

It was Red
It was soft
It was bright
And so right.

Seat of many tales
For many seasons
Warm, cosy and
Affectionate.

A love seat,
A comfort zone
For curling up &
To shed a tear.

Lumpy and creaky
A silent spectator
Witness to love
And life lived well.

SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR.

I meant to write this post a couple of days back, but was stuck up with chores.

Thanksgiving was on Thursday, yet Melissa Tandoc of Depth is spreading good cheer among her literary friends by giving away some cute awards. I can’t be thankful enough to her for bestowing this award to me.

I came across her blog "Depth" some months back and was struck by the depth of her writing. It is not just Melissa, but most of my blogger friends are awesomely talented. Will I ever be able to write like them? I asked this question many times to myself.

All my adult life, I led myself to believe that I didn’t have any talent. Growing up among boys, I just wasn’t attracted to do any ‘girlie’ stuff. Let me elaborate.

Becoming a teacher in a school was a convenient and easy option. But, I couldn’t imagine the plight of my students if I were one, because some day I would have been kicked out of school….I am impatient and short tempered, especially while teaching.

Then, I considered catering as a career even though I have no interest in cooking. I would have killed my clients’ appetite for sure. They were saved from me as good sense prevailed.

And, I am not a good singer or a dancer. Have no special skills or interest in learning art, craft, origami, flower arrangement, embroidery, tailoring or fashion designing, couldn’t make-up my mind for beauty courses…and I am not a party animal, so no Kitty Parties to ease my boredom. I wanted to learn “Past Life Regression Therapy” as alternative healing therapies have become a rage. I wasn’t genuinely interested but, wanted to do something for the sake of doing something. And I was stuck in the eternal boredom until I made a conscious effort to write my first article. An act in itself was courageous as I lacked courage.

I am glad for all the things I did not do, if I had then I would have been stagnated with something boring and end up being unhappy.

10 months since my first article, I am enjoying what I am doing, every word of it. And I have been able to fit among the fabulous writers who have made me a part of their literary world, extending unconditional support, love and appreciation.

Though my daily astrological prediction says – “Promotions and perks are part of this well-deserved package, but be careful that it doesn’t bloat your ego further”- I can’t help but feel a bit proud of myself…J

BORN FREE?

Eyes almost human
Not its nature.
Feeling sorry, I
Extend my hands.
He doesn’t care anymore,
The King is a kitty
He doesn’t roar.
The once powerful muscles
Lax from non-kill,
Lean and gaunt
His majestic mane
Now a knot.
All he does
Is sit still and stare at
A land faraway, once
His home and birthplace.

55 - LET'S PUSH IT, BABY!

Soft music played….
“Come on! Push it,
I can’t feel it…”

Pushing harder,
Sweating profusely
I let out a grunt.

He had a satisfied
Smile…”Come on,
Let’s change over,” he said.

I couldn’t say no,
I shifted,
Now incline, I did push.

He helped me,
At last! I completed two repetitions of “bench press.”

FOR  g-man.

GIVING THANKS - DVERSE POETS PUB

TREASURES.

I open the cupboard
To discover the treasure chest
Long forgotten
Containing rows & rows of
Photo album
From now and then.

I open one, and am magically
Transported in time to
Another place, another time, another age.

There I am –
The young bride smiling at the future
Here I am –
The first time mom with my new born
There I am –
The sister having fun
Here I am –
The daughter looking up to my dad
There I am –
The friend, laughing mad
Here I am –
The grand-daughter hugging my granny
And again –
The cousin acting cool and goofy.

Oh! I can feel the chill
Of the mist filled mountain
The deafening sounds of
The waterfall
Feel the cold sprays from
The water
Feel the warmth of
The rising sun
Enjoy the serenity of
The starless night…

As I close the last one,
My heart wells up
And brims my eyes
I bow my head…as
Gratitude escapes my lips.

dVerse Poets Pub - Open Link Night ~ Week 19.

LITTLE MISS PUPPET.

She flies high
Into the red sky
To welcome
The Emperor on
His golden chariot.

She dives down
To skim over
The pristine water
See her reflection
Marveling creation.

She flew into
The Garden of Eden
Saying ‘hello’
To every flower
Of every color.

She flew against
The wind
Grinned, as she
Felt it ruffled
Her feathers.

She sees the
Gate, golden
To open was forbidden
Curios, she was
Tries to push it
But, in vain.

Dreaming no more
Getting her bearings
A bird no more
But a Puppet
In his hands.

MAGPIE TALES - GYPSY GIRLS

It was a ritual. The girl’s day out, the first Sunday of the month. Come what may, it was something none of us wanted to miss, and did not miss until now. It has been a record of sorts – 25 years and still going strong.

“Gypsy Girls” we call ourselves, the six of us. We have been inseparable since our kindergarten. All from the same locality going to the same high school and met up every evening after college.

We have been a family – through thick and thin, hook –ups and break-ups, marriages and funerals, baby showers, baptism…..we are soul sisters and more.

Tara is the only spinster in our group, waiting for her knight in shining armor. To think of it, she has been acting a bit weird since last few meetings; seems there is a guy and love is in the air. Yet, instead of being happy, she seems preoccupied. “There are issues to sort out….it is complicated….not an easy relationship” was all she has hinted.

We let our imaginations take flight when she didn’t show up for our date today. No one missed our date…even if any of us were having labor pains; our date took priority over the delivery of the baby, yes, that thick. How could she? Was she with this guy? Blah, blah, blah… We tried calling her only to find her mobile switched off. We wrapped up our meeting on a sour note and promised to keep each other posted if we heard from Tara.

I was surprised to find Nick’s car parked in the driveway so early in the evening. Wanting to surprise him, I tiptoed into the house and into our bedroom. There she was with Nick in the bed and everything fell into place.

This is a Magpie Tale.

HOPE NOT-160 characters.

Hope, is but a word
There was never a hope
In hoping.
Plenty to some
Zilch to many
Long past desperation
Indifference remained
Looking up, she saw
The death in her wings.

ITS AWARD TIME AGAIN.

MY WORLD.
Of all the places in this world,
     I would like to be in your arms;
Of all the things I could do,
    I would like to spend my time with you;
Of all the thoughts running through my mind,
    I like the thoughts about you;
Of all the beauty in this world,
    I would like to see the beauty within you;
Of all the feelings I want to feel,
    I would like to feel the love in you;
Of all the glory in this world,
    I like the splendor of your soul;
Of all that touches me, in this world
    I would like to be touched by you;
Of all the miracles in this world
I believe one to be you.

I thank "The Poetry Palace' for this award and I nominate "Morning" for the next award.

POE-A-TREE HOP: MAGNIFICENT MANDU

Write a poem of short tail or a photo essay about this: :"The day I spent with_____" A person, place or thing from history, must have been someone, place or thing you admire like Ben Franklin,Cleopatra...etc....this is the prompt from Roy at - http://royd-spiltmilk.blogspot.com/.

MAGNIFICENT MANDU.

I first heard about Mandu, when we visited our friends in Indore, Madhya Pradesh (Central India). My friend said that this was a beautiful place to visit and experience. What he said was partially true, because this was not just beautiful but magnificent.

We can just have a glimpse of a life of what could have been during that time and age.
I was struck by the engineering skills of the people of that time. The monuments are still standing proudly even after centuries, even after wars and invasions.

Mandu or Madhavgad is a ruined city in the Dhar district in the Malwa region of western Madhya Pradesh state, central India.

PARADISE LOST

Scraped knees and elbows-
Our trophies of the day’s adventure
The sly giggles
Exchanging knowing glances of being
Partners in crime
The street fights
The tanned skin
The back bites and animosity
Forgotten easily
Friendships forged, broken &
Made up by the day.
The innocent, unblemished heart
Knew no evil
Saw no evil
Spoke no evil….

Then we grew up!
