Victoria of dVerse Poets Pub has prompted us to Play with Colors and paint our poems.
LIFE IN RED, BLACK AND GREY.
She birthed him
With her blood
She gave him
Life, love rife.
He brought her
Joy, meaning to her being
Grew up to be
Strong & determined.
She greyed and withered
Fought a disease unheard
She sought his strength
Energy & desire to fight,
Only to see him grow apart
Blind to her needs,
Abandoning her when
She was in pain.
She waged a war within
Her heart heavy with longing.
He was beside her
As she was reckoning
With her maker…
Oblivious to his presence.
She passed on with
A broken heart
He did not value her
In life or when she
Was done with her part.

How tragic...
ReplyDeleteit's sad he wasn't there when she needed him..there's just no guarantee that our kids return the love we gave them.. for my part i hope they will and happy when they do but think it's nothing we can claim...strong write here with heavy emotions and great how you wove in the colors..
ReplyDeleteSome nice things here: "She greyed and withered", for example.
ReplyDeleteHello.
ReplyDeleteOh how sad.
I agree with Claudia...we make the children, but we do not make their minds. We may love them with every ounce of life we have in us, but it's never a guarantee they will love us the same way.
Poignant & bittersweet.
Thanks for sharing, visiting & following.
I always try to return the kindness & am following you too.
Heaven Is You

ReplyDeletea sad story well told.
ReplyDeletefantastic piece.
The colors you chose to portray the sadness of this poem work so well. Unfortunately, this happens all too often. Victoria
