I looked up at the sky
Moon shone bright and white
I wanted to have it, thought I
What was I thinking?
That I could throw a tantrum
And have whatever I want?
Then I looked at the stars,
They flickered like lamps,
I could make patterns
By joining the dots.
I stretched my hands..
Wasn't I a fool to do that?
Earth can't meet the sky
Everything have been placed right
Some things aren't meant to be
One can have flights of fancy
Separate real from fantasy
Cos' horizon is just an illusion.

Just loved it, a beautiful piece of poetry... a nice message conveyed beautifully :)
ReplyDelete'horizon is just an illusion' how true!
ReplyDeleteLiked your poem:)
Beautiful imagery :)
ReplyDeleteFull of innocence..
The Greeks and Romans have already made some for us to navigate by and to enjoy our imaginations with. I don't see why you can't do it as well.
ReplyDeleteJust "wow"! Fantastic imagery!
ReplyDeleteYou have done it again, Janaki!
My lovely Janu,
ReplyDeleteIt's only in our dreams and fantasies that we can have everything we desire. Wonderful poetry/imagery.
Thanks for sharing.
beautiful poetry, loved it. <3
ReplyDeleteThis was beautiful and at the same time, I felt a little sadness to it. It's hard to diffuse illusion, yet we must all face reality. I really enjoyed this.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and full of wisdom! Good job Janaki! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat as always but there is not harm in innocent wishes anyway right - I say go ahead and dream : )
ReplyDeleteeasy to let that imagination get the best of us at times isnt it...smiles....
