50 SHADES OF GREY

Some days
Of our lives
Are dark and gloomy
Like monsoon clouds
Pregnant, threatening
to pour. Bleak.

And there are days
With sunny side up
Bright and perfect
With a spring in
Each of our step.

Occasional rainbow
Splashing colour
Breaking the pattern
The mood elevates
A reason to celebrate.

But, more often than not
Mundane and routine
Is the rule of our lives
Where, everyday is a
50 shades of grey!

  5. How very true, Janu. Rarely is it gloom and doom or all sunshiny bright, but always somewhere in between. Great imagery!

  6. Ah, yes sometimes it does seem that the ordinary life is 50 shades of grey. I do know what you mean, and your poem states it so well. I do think we have to carry our OWN paint brush. Smiles.

  10. You have the same Rumi quote I had last year! I already like your blog. :-) And that poem was so nuanced and beautiful. Many thanks, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I love this positive pic, Janu! It gives one the idea of being pleasing and of being pleased. That's how life should be, well balanced. Nicely!

  15. All very true... I can't think of life as only black or white, there has to be grey in all things or there's no room for compromise.

  18. One of my favorite colors is grey-blue. A black & white view of the world is a hard, hard way to live. Thank GOD for the rainbows!
