The plug is pulled
Taking away the light
From the eyes.
Groping in the dark
Feeling the walls
Frantic
Beads of sweat
Cling like dews
Breathing...
Labored and shallow
As you search for the light,
A ray, a hope.
But, a trip and a fall
Sobs of pain
Panic clouds the mind
Gripped in fear
And so on your own-
CHOOSE...
Stay there...only for sometime
Have a good cry
Feel it
Cast away the excess baggage
Shrug the load off
Remove the imaginary binders
Life isn't a bed of roses
HE has a plan
No need to make it worse
All you have is
YOU.

Wise and yet so utterly sensitive...thanks for the reminder... will remember these couple of lines: "No need to make it worse/All you have is/
ReplyDeleteYOU."
your words give so much hope to those who are experiencing darkness, janaki. this is so beautiful ❤ :-)
ReplyDeleteLoved it, Janaki. Ultimately we have only ourselves.
ReplyDeleteWe only have ourselves, true this. We make and break our path with each choice...nice one ~
ReplyDeleteSo true Janaki. Excess baggages, bindings all need to go. Nicely expressed.
ReplyDeleteLove the wisdom in this. I love especially "no need to make it worse."
ReplyDeletep.s. I LOVE the quote at the top!
ReplyDeleteI also love the quote you launched your poem with ... an awesome poem!
ReplyDeletesmiles.....we are all we have at times...and oh how often we make it worse for ourselves as well...i repeat this all the time for the kids here at school...
ReplyDeleteA poem of gaining strength here, to me anyway. We can and must indeed choose and go on even when we stop and cry. Thanks for visiting Poetry Jam.
ReplyDeletePowerful poem and so true. The Buddha says that no man can lead another to salvation. We all ultimately have our own selves to rely on, to find the truth, to find liberation and to rescue ourselves from our the problems our own illusions create for us.
ReplyDeleteYes, so very true. All we have is ourselves in the end. We are responsible for our own choices! For better or for worse.
ReplyDeleteWell YOU are the most important person for YOU..
ReplyDeleteits not being selfish or anything.. you are numero uno for You.. thats what i follow now.. learnt my lesson tooo :)
Bikram's
We all have excess baggage; you expressed that so vividly here. A dramatic poem - well done.
ReplyDeleteLove the poem and the quote at the top. I have a tendency to beat myself up over life stuff, so this really spoke to me...
