The drag of wind
Creates them
And watching them
Calms the mind
The sound of waves
Hitting the shore
Is music to the
Parched soul
Does the shore complain...
Being hit repeatedly?
Doesn't the Sea deposit...
Its treasures regularly?
What you throw
Is what comes back!
Do the rocks grumble...
Being knocked time and again?
Rough edges chiseled
The onslaught humbles -
The rock.
The crests and troughs
Always want to
Make you ride them
A lot similar to life, ain't it?
For - dVerse Poets
This one is written for me. The Ocean is my mentor, I was saved by the sea in many different circumstances. It has taught me many things. I absolutely love the way you have put the sea and life together.
ReplyDeletenice....lots of metaphors in ocean...and you bring that out in this on several levels....what you throw in comes back....sowing and reaping....but also the grumbling...i like that...good stuff....
ReplyDeleteI leave this post with this in my heart--
ReplyDelete"Rough edges chiseled
The onslaught humbles -
The rock."
So I shall endure so I may emerge polished and better...
Loved it. The ocean offer us many lessons, thanks for bringing some of them to our attention.
ReplyDeleteYour description took me right back to Jekyll Island which we visited in October. I can feel the wind, hear the waves, smell the salty air . . .
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done, Janu!
I love everything about the ocean. I also have a healthy fear of what lives in it. I am always drawn to water when I am upset. A shower, a bath, a bottle of water. You worded it well :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a good example of what the prompt for dVerse was all about. If I might make a suggestion--you don't need that final line. The poem communicates the message so well.
ReplyDeleteThis poem makes for a good reflection early morning... it's like breathing the sea and catching the waves of poetry...
ReplyDeleteI love this.
Yes, very similar to what life has to offer! Circumstances differ but the effect and consequences are the same! Good thoughts Janu!
