We all are strong
Or so we think!
Anything chocolate,
The knees goes weak
Some are nuts over doughnuts,
Coffee and tea?
Don't even talk about it!
Temptations, addictions, emotions-
Defy logical explanations
A hearty 'Yes'
Vs
A mindful 'No'
It is no secret
We let our resolve go.
Easy to conquer our fears,
Conquer the cravings first!

Yes, those cravings are definitely hard to say NO to....especially if we make a mistake of having the craved thing in the house! Smiles!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary.
DeleteHmmm, I like that :) Chocolate and coffee are definitely my weakness LOL. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary for sharing your weakness.
Deletesmiles...you have to get rid of the stimulus that is addicting to us if we ever hope to overcome the temptation that is for sure...i cant give up my coffee though...smiles...
ReplyDeleteTea for me...thanks Brian.
DeleteI am amazed at the way you churn poetry! Good rhyming sense and so meaningful your poems!
ReplyDeleteThanks Asha.
DeleteGreat combo of prompts! Too hard to say no to chocolate!
ReplyDeleteTrue...thanks.
DeleteEr...what if i don't want to conquer some of them? ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to..:-)
DeleteThis poem made me smile. Though this might be one case where I'd rather not be 'strong'. ;)
ReplyDelete:-) thank you.
DeleteRight..sometimes you just have to stop your cravings. CONTROL. ah, don't talk about chocolates here! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming over Chhavi.
DeleteI'm a chocolate lover, too... those cravings can sure be strong!
ReplyDeleteAren't they?

ReplyDeleteYou rock gal...thanks.
DeleteBetween me and a jelly doughnut, the doughnut always wins!
ReplyDeleteYes, I know...same here.
Deletethe mindfulness of no... i like that
ReplyDelete... you're speaking my language! So hard not to give in.
ReplyDeleteYes!
Deletenicely done indeed...thanks for sharing your words
ReplyDeleteDefinitely hard to give that mindful "no." I think I will go look for a brownie.
ReplyDeleteAnd me to my black forest pastry!
DeleteAh, those cravings. Nice one.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to conquer our cravings! The Gita speaks much about this and says that when we conquer our cravings we begin to conquer our mind and see truths more clearly.
ReplyDeleteLoved your poem.
Ah, I love my cravings and maybe that is how you conquer them. You just love them and accept them for what they are. I think it is the things one hates or dislikes that is harder to give in to. I can easily eat anything chocolate but I cannot for the life of me eat anything fishy. I know others who love fish, or seafood of any kind but I think I would rather have to be starving to eat any of it. I try it and I can barely swallow it. I see others enjoying it and I wonder why I too cannot enjoy it, but no way will I eat it.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess how to conquer your dislikes and fears is a greater secret than conquering your cravings.
Oh and I too also prefer tea over coffee. I am trying to enjoy coffee but maybe it is a conquest of which I am not doing too well.
Thank you for such a wonderful poem about my favorite craving of chocolate and for sharing it with us for this weeks Theme Thursday. I hope you are having a weekend filled with lots of chocolate and tea.
God bless.
Oh, to conquer my cravings. I could do anything then. This poem really speaks to me. My addiction to sugar is powerful than I am most times. My strong no can switch to a tiny yes and all hell breaks loose.
ReplyDeleteI have a huge craving for sweets...it reduced when I got married for my spouse doesn't eat much sweets..but it never died :)
