THE WAIT.

I wait to feel the pull
My heart drums in my chest

Red velvet chairs
My red dress
Purse on lap
Shoes glistening

Underworld of fabulous sounds
Atmosphere is magical
Buzzing with excitement
Its an appropriate time to enter.

He closes his eyes
Takes deep breaths
"Which way to go?"
"Which way to go?"

Beside me is an empty seat
I turn around once more
My heart skips a beat
The door beside me opens.

This was written for dVerse - Erasure poetry.
Due to ill health, could not post it on time.
Erasure poetry is a form of found poetry created by erasing words from an existing text in prose or verse and framing the result on the page as a poem. The results can be allowed to stand in situ or they can be arranged into lines and/or stanzas.
I have chosen my text from Cecelia Ahern's novel -
Thanks for the memories.

  2. Very well done...I like the last stanza especially, with the door opening! I see good things on the other side of the door.
