No doubt that the whole of Goa still retains the Portuguese Charm. This quaint little neighborhood in the heart of Panjim (the capital city of Goa) is a world in itself. Be prepared to get lost in this old world charm.
What makes it even more attractive, are the bright colors of the buildings. A heritage walk is organized once a year through this neighborhood and people throw open a part of their houses for the general public. The antiques they have are priceless indeed.
There is something about the doors/doorways that catch my attention.
This is a hotel/lodge...very unobtrusive. Well, there is no chimney and so Santa is trying to get in through the balcony.
We met the owner of this house. He was kind enough to invite us in, but, we were polite enough to decline. Yes, it is more than 150 years old.
This is a hotel too.
A home for destitute woman.
A little rusty, ain't it?
Panjim Inn....very calm, quiet and peaceful.
We also found an art gallery and a home decor house tucked amidst these beauties.
And yeah, Goa is not just about beaches and beach parties.

Goa is where I will retire one day! Loved the captures.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, Janu. This is what I really love about Goa. The art gallery is it Velha Goa? Exquisite stuff there.
ReplyDeleteNice photos. And I am just baffled at how clean the place looks. No carelessly strewn kachra, broken footpath etc anywhere.
ReplyDeleteLovely pics Janu. I loved the yellow house - it looks so cheerful and pretty.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place, I'd love to see it for myself. Perhaps it's calling to the Porta-goose inside me (my grandfather's pet name for his grandchildren was the Portageese!)

ReplyDeleteGoa is one of my fav places which holds many sweet memories ...lovely pictures and yes like Rickie says I miss its cleanliness the most :)
ReplyDeleteThat's the Goa I miss. I think one can't cover Goa in just one trip. One time it is touristy and the next time the real exploration begins.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pics Janaki.
Goa is always in my "must go" list. Nice pics and the buildings look colourful. :)
