N for NAGARJUNA.

I was at THAT age when I could fall in love. And he was a heart-breaker.  A typical Mills & Boon guy...tall, dark and drop dead gorgeously handsome. He was a like a breath of fresh air...oops! he was a tornado who swept many girls off their feet who ended up losing their heart to him.  I loved the mustache of his...amused by the way they moved when he talked. He is 53 years old now...but, haven't lost his charm even a bit.

Geetanjali was the first movie I ever saw of his. Was I floored by his looks? Who even watched him act? I watched him move.
I saw the movie twice, the second time with a real life hero of mine whose name is incidentally "Nag" (Nagaraj) too.

But, the movie Shiva was the clincher. I totally loved his 'angry young man' character. Then his 'Aakhari Poratam' was sheer magic.

I moved to Ahmedabad in 1992 with my Nag, and so could not keep up with the screen Nag. There weren't so many channels on TV then...and was completely cut off the regional movie secene.

A few years back, I saw him and his wife Amla up close in Bengaluru Airport. I was so awed by him and yet, could not work up enough courage to walk up to them and chat.

This is a song from the movie Geetanjali...a very endearing one.
This movie is such a visual treat.

This post was prompted by my friend Afshan Khan...and this is for you dear. We share our mutual love and admiration for Nagarjuna.

  3. Killer post may I say ! :)

Geethanjali is the very first movie I saw and Nag is my first on-screen crush. I love that movie to bits. I watched it more than a hundred times maybe and I can still watch it any day.

Nag is pure hotness in that movie. His sweaters and his gorgeous stubble, ok I should totally stop salivating now :D :P Loved this post!

  9. :)
I truly adore him too... and have loved all his movies. Surprisingly age does not seem to have caught up with him.

My fav would be ninne pelladatha - Tabu's debut for I love the romance in that one and beautiful songs. Though difficult to find regional stuff in Ahmedabad I do try to catch up with my dose whenever I go visiting my hometown.

    Loved it!!

  10. Hi Janaki,
I am Bhavana from Bangalore. Have been exploring the blogging world and found yours along with some of those who are participating in this A-Z contest. :-)
My mother's side are telguites and whenever I used to visit my cousins we were watching wide range of movies from kannada to telugu and some hindi.
That included this movie called 'khsanak kshanam' with Nagarjuna with Sridevi in it.
It was a nice movie. Apart from this movie, I have not watched any other movies of his. I somehow missed Geetanjali. I was in my 6th ot 7th grade then.
But the song 'nandi konda' had made huge impact on me. :0)
Yeah, he was impressive, even for a 11- 12 year old girl :-)

I have seen 'Kshana kshanam' (in Telugu, not dubbed) and some Tamil/Hindi movies he has acted in.
