DREAMZ...UNLIMITED.

No, this is not an endorsement for Shah Rukh Khan’s Production Company. (Shah Rukh Khan is an Indian Movie super star.)

Everyone dreams, irrespective of their upbringing, social status or any other factor. How we realize our dreams suggests the quality and the satisfaction we gain from life...personally.

I am not a born dancer.  My dance training was limited to learn basic “Bharatanatyam” (an Indian classical dance form) in school, which was compulsory for girls.

I was once made fun of by my dance teacher, in front of the whole class as I could not move my neck in a particular way. (Wonder how the brain remembers all these crap!) From then on, I hated him and dreaded the dance class. I never learnt dance again.

Three decades later, I danced “Lavani” (A traditional Marathi dance form) in front of a limited audience from the housing society I live in. I practiced day and night, for 3 days, with a bad leg....the strain of which too led to my leg fracture later.

I did dance...beautifully, with grace and more importantly with gay abandon and enjoyed every moment of it.

Everyone thought I was a Maharastrian trained in Lavani. The praises were rolling in for weeks.

The bottom line is – Be determined  enough to realize your dreams.

MY GUARDIAN ANGELS..

Have heard there are two,
One on each side of you
To guide and show you
The path.
Ever felt the presence
Of your guardian angels?
To me, my heart and
My mind work just as fine
I follow my heart even
When my mind minds.
Turn to your heart
For your dreams
And to your mind
For logic
They are my tools,
My internal compass and GPS...
The trick is to
Identify the difference
In their voices
Silence one, When
You have to make a choice.

A PRESENCE

I did not hear the bell ring
Nor was there a gust of wind
No bolt of lightening
The music silent, of the violin.

The Sun appeared on time
Birds welcoming him with their singing
Flowers blooming to his warmth
Sky, clear and blue to charm.

Yet,
My heart sang a melody unknown
Had a bounce in my feet
A silly grin pasted on my face
Cheeks blushed a deep pink....

I felt a presence deep within!!!

CHAMP - THAT'S ME!

This title sounds pompous right? Well, let me say that I pride myself in being my own champion.

My friends know my passion for running, my dream to take part in the marathon; how I got registered for it...against odds and then I broke my leg! I mean I fractured my right femur bone.

For almost a month before the marathon (in January), I had pain in my right thigh. My mobility was not hindered and so I thought it to be a muscle pull. I rested my leg...stopped running. (But, I danced – that’s a different story) And before the marathon, I had been to an orthopaedist who had given me a ‘go ahead.’

To cut the long story short, I did participate in the marathon. I couldn't run but, limped with an excruciating pain. I saw thousands of people walk past me, faster than me...I saw a very old man run, bare foot and I pushed myself. I just wanted to cross the finish line.

But, destiny had a different plan. At one point I just froze. I could not move and was rooted to the spot! As people helped me, I saw a man with an artificial leg walk past me. Hat’s off to his dedication. If he could, then I can too. No excuses, right?

People say that I was crazy....yes, I was and still am. It was a burning desire that fuelled me to push myself to the limits – all for a dream, a dream yet to be fulfilled and which I will.

I was not disappointed. To walk with a broken leg for 14kms in no joke.

ARE YOU DARING ENOUGH???

It is safe for a
Bird in its nest
Ship in the harbour
Lion in its den...
Are you daring enough...
To come out and play?

HOPE

Hope, a little four lettered word
A word, so powerful
Always good to look forward
Hope, a little four lettered word
Visions of positivity conjured
Expecting with anticipation

'MADE FROM SCRATCH' MONDAY - COCONUT LADOOS (BALLS!)

COCONUT LADOOS
Ingredients:
400 gms sweetened condensed milk (gluten free)
500 gms dried coconut powder

Method:
In a thick bottomed pan, mix 400 gms of condensed milk with 400 gms of dried coconut powder. Keep aside 100 gms of coconut powder.
On a medium flame, cook this mixture till it thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan. Keep stirring continuously as there are chances of this mixture sticking to the pan.
Remove from heat. Cool. Make balls of this mixture and roll them in the remaining dried coconut powder. Garnish and serve.

Note: You can even add permitted gluten-free food colors to make it more attractive.

BLOGGING

This word defined my life, defined the person I am today – a person I always wanted to be.

Just like a caterpillar in the cocoon, I too was wrapped up in the comfort of my domestic life as a homemaker. There was turmoil deep within my heart, which I always ignored till a point that it was bursting out as frustration. Life was good, but lacked excitement or that bit of extra ‘oomph’!

When a friend casually asked me the purpose of my life – the feeling buried in my heart started to make more noise, it wanted to break free. I thought...”this is it! This was THE message from the universe I was waiting for. It’s now or never.” If my blogs were not well received, I can stop. That’s what I thought. But, then again, why would I? Writing was what I was born for!

Blogging has liberated me. I finally grew wings, broke the shell of the cocoon, became a beautiful butterfly and took flight. A decision I never regret. Today, I am more confident as a person. I am ready for challenges, and I have creative satisfaction. More than anything else, I have some immensely talented and amazing friends who are also great human beings.

CARPE DIEM

Challenges....
They excite me
Fuel me and
Give me a new high
Rush of adrenaline.

The mind
With its never ending chatter
Planting the doubt and
The questions that
Are never ending.

Tired of these voices
The only way
Is to silence them
Carpe diem
Challenges...bring them on!!!

NaPoWriMo...challenge Day 1.

ALWAYS ALONE...

Doesn’t happen always. Only when alone....only when the song plays...only when the dawn breaks...only when the night falls...only when this body breaths, only in all the moments of a day!!!!

The heart speaks and the mind tries to shut it up, reason with it. Yo-yoing between the past and the present, caught in the whirlpool of what it’s, buts, could haves, would haves...you are alone.

Promises made at the time of need, promises are forever- you are promised. Who has seen forever?

There is only one truth...you are always alone on this journey!!! Love it or hate it!
