dVERSE POETS PUB - OPEN LINK NIGHT - WEEK 18

PIECE DE RESISTANCE.

He tried to stop her
Break her stride,
Only to get her dirty look.
She fumed silently
It did a world of good
To them, a weapon she often used.

They were a team
Had been since ages
Or so it seemed.
Danced to many tunes
Seen the world thru’
Each other eyes,
Earning accolades, fame and all.

Inseparable as they were
She trusted him with her
Eyes closed, he was
Too good…no sweat there.
Yet, he strayed,
To hell with her,
I can have better was his thought.

She cried, was blitzed out
Sulked & ranted; didn’t
Do a world of good to either.
He had his axe to grind
And she had hers, and
She shut off to the world.

She left, so did
The music, the rhythm
And the dance. His castle
Crumbled along with his ego
Nothing he did or said could
Bring her back…who was his
Piece de resistance.

Originally had written this for dVerse's last week - Poetics - what did you call me? But, could not post it on time. So posting it now....for more dversepoets.com.

SHORT STORY SLAM WEEK 14 AT BLUEBELL BOOKS.

WET DREAMS!

Milky white foams
The fragrance of rose
Tingling her senses
To a dreamless slumber.

Shadows dancing in
The candle lights
Conjuring images of
Promising nights.

A gentle rub,
From the scrub
Exfoliating the peachy skin
Making it supple & ravishing.

Wasn't she inviting?
Clean & smelling of
Primrose, she dreamed
A night of love making.

“Hey! Dreaming ha?
Move on, lady…fill up
Before the water supply stops.”

POETRY PICNIC WEEK 13 - CHILDHOOD, DREAMS, BOOKS, ROLE MODELS

LOVE AFFAIR. (with books)
I take you to bed with me
You turn me on.
You lure me and charm me
With your words….
The sweet nothings and
Wisdom profound.
I feel you and
Run my fingers all over
Feeling your smoothness;
Drinking in your odor.
You awaken emotions myriad
Making me laugh
And cry sometimes,
Drowning me in the sentiments
Touching my deepest part.
Understanding my core,
We tango together,
You give me immense pleasure.
I reflect on your words,
Munch on it and
Toss it around my mind.
You inspire me,
You complement me…with you
I have a lifelong love affair.

MY GUEST POST

Sonia Rumzi ,  http://soniarumzi.com/ an acclaimed writer and a novelist herself, asked me whether I will be able to do a "guest blog" for her. My initial reaction was one of disbelief. Yes. I wanted to say 'no' to her as I thought that I will not be able to do justice for her blog. But, then .... Sonia had enough faith in me and my writing and that is the reason she asked me to write a guest post in the first place, isn't it? So, it was high time that I start believing in myself. And, this is how the blog - WHEN ONE DOOR CLOSES, ANOTHER OPENS - http://soniarumzi.com/when-one-door-closes-another-opens.html#.TsHaFv84N0E.facebook happened.

Thank you Sonia for giving me this wonderful opportunity and honoring me.

dVERSE POETS PUB - MEETING THE BAR: CRITIQUE AND CRAFT - PROSE TO POETRY.

Claudia, at the dVerse Poets Pub has asked us to stretch ourselves a bit by offering a prose to poetry challenge.

 FINDING ME.

Dream
Dream
Dream
Was all I did.
Harboured them,
Nourished them,
I walked with them,
Played with them,
Lived and experienced them,
…All in my mind.
Holding back from
Walking the walk,
Talking the talk,
Fearing for the sake of fear.
Until they threatened
To erupt, cripple
And frustrate me.
I let ‘one’ out,
Tentatively, tenderly,
Gingerly, I felt it.
Oh! What a feeling it was!
I let them all out
One by one,
They embraced me,
Filled me with purpose,
Gave a new persona, an
Identity unknown.
I had live them before
I was living them now
Mirroring a ‘renewed’ me.

“As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path we must think over and over the kind of thought we wish to dominate our lives.”
HENRY DAVID THOREAU.

Re-written in poetic form by me –

As a single footstep will not
Make a path on the earth,
So a single thought will not
Make a pathway in the mind.

To make a deep physical path,
We walk again and again,
To make a deep mental path
We must think over and over

The kind of thoughts
We wish to dominate our lives.

POE A TREE HOP

This week on the Poe-a-tree hop the theme or prompt is about the change of seasons, what is your favorite season? For more, visit....Roy's Garage Sell and Auction.

RAIN ON.

New Year starts off on a cold note. I do look forward for the New Year as it promises of renewed hope, new beginnings and full 12 months to look forward to.

January – I like this month because I celebrate my birthday on this month. But, winter is something which I am not comfortable with. The cold weather makes my skin dry and my hair frizzy, making me look like a porcupine! Cracked heels and chapped lips is not something I want to deal with.

Onset of spring – I look forward to this season as there is a spurt of life in the nature… trees start growing new leaves and this is a time for festivities too. More than anything else, this is a season of Mangoes – the King of Fruits. How I like to devour them! Any size, any variety…I relish them with gusto.

Summer – This is the time when the schools are closed and I get to visit my ‘home.’ But, this too is not a season I like as I do not like the heat, humidity, the sweating and the rashes.

The season that is worth my wait is the rainy season. Right from the first drops of the season, the smell of the earth when it quenches its thirst, the cool breeze with wet sprays…everything entices me. I can sit by my window for hours together with a hot cup of tea and watch the rain fall. Everything seems washed up and clean. The birds taking a plunge in the small puddles, washing themselves and playing, is a sight so mesmerizing.

Sometimes when it is raining, the birds are sleeping on the branches with their eyes closed, beaks tucked in and they seem to be deep in meditation, looking like cute little Buddha’s.

Recently, when I was vacationing in a small town of Kerala, South India, we decided to visit a fort which was about 30-35k away from our town. So, we hired an auto rickshaw and piled up in it and were on our way. Mid way, it started raining so heavily that we could hardly see what was in front of us. Added to this, the rickshaw did not have a wiper! We were on a highway, with heavy downpour, the rickshaw in full speed without a wiper…this is the craziest thing I have done in recent times! My brother-in-law wanted to turn back, but I insisted on going on. Am glad we did, as we visited a couple of beautiful beaches…pristine, clear, unpolluted and virgin. I love the beaches especially when it is raining, not the stormy type of raging seas but the misty and foggy type.
I love the way “life” comes back after the rain; the birds start chirping, people come out of their hiding places, vehicles start plying and everyone go about doing their business after a brief break.

To me, the rainy season is the most romantic season of all.
