Deep down in the Anahata
Everyone's good
And everyone is human too.
We want to experience all
We eat
We diet
We drink
We indulge
We also meditate
And contemplate
We have our reasons
We only live once.
We do good...not always
We are bad...not with intention
And we have our excuses
We join the rat race
Just for the heck of it
Following trends
And people
Comparing
Gaining and hoarding
Too much or too little
Never enough
Not really Happy
And so we seek
By middle age
We realize time is running out
We try to make amends
Right the wrongs...
What for?
If everything is predestined
Why try at all?

we have a saying in germany: jeder ist seines glückes schmied...which means that everyone's a blacksmith for his luck...there are things we can't influence..but other we can... and yeah..there are moments in life when we re-think what we did, where we went, where we wanna go..and these are good and important moments..and heck yeah...we have our excuses...tons of them...ha
ReplyDeleteThanks Claudia...:-)
DeleteSuch a mindful reflection . . . I don't think our lives are predestined, although God knows how it all turns out in the end. Looking back, I can certainly see many wrong choices I've made, yet am amazed how God has managed to put me "back on track". :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Janu!
Thanks Martha...In India, more so in Hinduism we do believe in destiny and how life is predestined for us, to put it vaguely. So, this is the reflection of some of it.
Deleteinteresting...predestination is a tricky animal...its good if you end up on the good side....not if you arent...smiles....i think ammends is not a bad thing at all....more peace and restoration...
ReplyDeleteIn India, we do believe in Karma, destiny and fate...and am currently Osho and so this is the outcome of my thoughts. Thanks Brian.
DeleteI do not believe that one will be locked in such belief of predestination. It would be unfaithful to life and its dynamics.
ReplyDeleteSo true Melissa, agree with you. Thanks.
DeleteThat question about predestination is a good one. You write so well about the way we humans often live our lived, almost prearranged, if we follow the crowd. I do not believe in predestination, do believe in one life here, and believe in free will. We must choose to live a life where we can find our true selves, which I think does exist, but takes getting out of the rat race forba while.mYour poem is great since it asks these questions.
ReplyDeleteThanks Charles...as I have said in my previous comments, Hinduism has some views on destiny and fate. And, am in the midst of reading the views of Osho..so this reflection.
DeleteMy beautiful Nargis,
ReplyDeleteI myself, like some of the others, do not believe in predestination. I really believe there had to be more to life when it was first created, than to be born, live with imperfections, sin and then die. If the Almighty had created us to live with pain, sufferings and then die, then without a doubt, He failed in His creation. Would it not be foolish to believe that He could fail in anything? Once again, interesting post dear friend.
My dear Raj,
DeleteI do believe in destiny to a certain point. Maybe we give the term destiny for our failures and errors. But, I do believe in higher power and things do happen to us for some reason.
Thanks for sharing.
We make our own destiny but are guided by fate in doing so :) lovely post.

Thanks Sulekkha.
DeleteIn life, "some things" do seem predestined because we could not achieve them despite our efforts. But also it’s our ultimate endeavor and choices (Decisions) that create a path towards our blissful and successful destiny and help us to achieve our destination. Very well said Janaki!:)
ReplyDeleteThis is a good question to ponder. I don't know if I believe everything is predestined. I think many things are, but we have a great deal of power in our hands simply because we have free choice. I guess it can be argued that every eventuality is a facet of Destiny and is already known and recorded before we even make those choices. It's certainly a "falling down the rabbit hole" type of conversation! At a very human level, I'm not a proponent of inactivity and just letting life happen to and around me. I prefer to be fully engaged and taking accountability, pursuing and achieving goals and making a conscious effort to be that best version of myself possible. Some days I do better than others. :)

Your poem has much depth. I think we have some choice in most things. But, I think our choices are guided by what we've been taught, experienced and seen. True inner freedom comes by examining our deepest motives. That's a life long job.

Oh laptops!!!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't able to finish my last sentence - perhaps a subliminal choice. heh.
What I wanted to say is that I like how you developed your poem. It is simple, yet very complex.
Very well expressed feelings! I imagine many feel this way. Beautiful poem. :)
ReplyDeleteI guess I am one of those that thinks we make our own destiny, with the choices we make. Very thought provoking.
ReplyDeleteI've wondered the same thing!
