Sunrise and Sunsets
Never was so mesmerizing
When one is in love
The sky, moon and the stars
Take a new meaning
When the heart is romaticising.
In pain and hurt
When someone breaks your heart
You turn to the same
Sun, moon and the stars
For solace or to
Be mocked by them.
We live life
Then try to find
THE meaning...
Turning again to the same things
For strength,
Calm and peace.
Nature is all around
And abound
We don't really see
Until we really seek
All that exists outside
Also resides within us.

Profound lines Janaki,
ReplyDeleteThanks Sulekkha
DeleteNice pairing of image and words .... I enjoyed your poem.
ReplyDeleteThanks Helen.
Deletedef profound...and some nice wisdom...i think there is danger in just living and dying by our hearts...it is hard to do otherwise...maybe we just give them away too easily...
ReplyDeleteAnd sometimes we fight a loosing battle. Thanks Brian.
DeleteNice words and a very interesting picture!:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tarang
DeleteIt was Emerson, in his neat essay "On Nature" who first reminded me that despite our puniness in the face of nature's vast beauty, everything we see there is colored by the emotions and events we see it through. Shakespeare played with this a lot, but showed nature actually and in reality in sync with royal mood. Your poem does that theme justice too and uses poetry to explain poetry's relationship to nature. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this Susan...appreciate it.
DeleteMy dear Nargis,
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful and powerful words indeed!! The picture was the perfect compliment to a very well written poem. Your words reflected my style of thoughts in so many ways. I enjoyed your talent here my dear.
My dear Raj,
DeleteAs always....thanks.
Oh, I absolutely love these lines:
ReplyDeleteWe don't really see
Until we really seek
All that exists outside
Also resides within us.
This so reminds me that we are spiritual beings experiencing a physical existence. Just perfect, Janu!
Thank you Martha.
DeleteYou are definitely right that sunsets and sunrises take on new meaning when one is in love. The whole world is brighter then, isn't it? And you are definitely right again that they give a person solace when a love ends. The sun and moon are constants and comforting no matter what is happening in one's life. We turn to them, and they are there. Thanks for participating in Poetry Jam, and I hope you will also take time to visit links of others who posted, and community is a good feeling.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary.
DeleteThe trick is to keep breathing...
ReplyDeleteYeah, thanks Kris.
DeleteThanks Loredana.
ReplyDeleteBittersweet that all the events of life take place under the same sun, moon, and stars. Love your words, Janaki <3 :-)
ReplyDeleteI like the give and take of this poem. And I think when we first fall in love, everything revolves around that love. A bright sunny day, a moonlit night are just the backdrop that surrounds our new love in our eyes. Such a wonderful poem to describe those times and the times after. I just have to keep looking at the picture for some reason. I have discovered a volcano, a car driving on a road, and I think a duck but I am not sure. Just a really cool pic.
ReplyDeleteThanks for such a fantastic poem and pic for this weeks Theme Thursday.
God bless.
Love this:
ReplyDelete"We live life
Then try to find
THE meaning..."
Especially emphasis on THE (as if there was only one meaning...)
Janaki, Thank you for sharing!
I love that we turn to nature in the extremes of emotion...seeking and your last two lines are so very true. Well written...strong faithful piece!
ReplyDeleteLike a prayer...I reread it again and again until the words soak deep within me... loved it Janu!
ReplyDelete"All that exists outside
ReplyDeleteAlso resides within us."
I think if everyone realized the truth of the last two lines the world would be a much different place. And like several others have said, nature can be such a source of comfort in times of emotional upheaval. This is just beautifully written! Thanks so much for sharing it with us at Poetry Jam this week.
