Three cups a day
Helps maintain a good
Bone density.
Damn! I just have two
If only, I had known
I may not have
Broken my bone!
Statistics are for studies.
I fancy them
As their fancy names...
English Earl
Connoisseurs Delight
Morning Glory
Dim Sum Special
Taster's Choice.
They enhance my taste buds too
With Chamomile
Cardamom
Evening Primrose
Jasmine? Nay!
Oolong tea
White tea
Black tea
Green tea
Or any other color tea
Do I care, what process
They go through?
Neither do I care
If they contain
Caffeine
Amino acids
Antioxidants
Flavanoids nor
Flouride.
Do I understand their properties...
That Polyphenol is a derivative of
Gallic acid - C6H2(OH)3COOh
And Catechin - C15H14O64H2O
Comprehend???
Japanese have an elaborate ritual
I have mine!
I make my tea
As I want it
Brewed strong
With water and milk
Just enough sweet
To satisfy my
Addiction and need.

ReplyDeleteWould love to try the fennel tea. Thanks Claudia.
DeleteIf the bone density part was true, my husband would not have broken his hip :( But I do love tea - my latest is green tea without sugar - strangely I love it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I like green tea without sugar too. Thanks Corinne.
DeleteI too like my tea with sugar and milk. No fancy names for me :) Lovely poem Janaki, loved it a lot.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sulekkha...and thanks for sharing on twitter.
DeleteAh the nectar of the gods - don't get me started on tea bags versus loose tea. Fun poem
ReplyDeleteThanks John.
DeleteI love tea...Green tea is my favorite..I don't have to add anything to it! :) Loved the poem!
ReplyDeleteYup...I like it too. Thanks Jessica.
Deletethat tea sounds lovely =)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lucy.
DeleteWe grow up on drinking tea in England from being about 6 months old and given it in baby bottles so, this is a lovely read, to me. I moved to Canada and got addicted to coffee but, have since stopped drinking it and gone back to drinking Tetley tea. I don't enjoy all the fancy stuff, just good old mugs of tea with skimmed milk. :)
ReplyDeleteReally made me smile, thank you :)
That's cool...In South India, we let the babies taste the coffee! Thank you too.
DeleteSo many tea flavors here...I like mine simple dried roses, with little sugar as possible ~ Nice one ~
ReplyDelete:-) would love to try it out. Thanks Heaven.
DeleteMy dear Janu,
ReplyDeleteI can tell you wrote this poem with a lot of passion for your tea (smile). I do drink it sometimes and must have milk and sugar. I hope every cup of tea that you have will always make you smile from its taste and beauty. Thank you TEA LADY.
Yes dear Andy...this must be my fourth or fifth poem dedicated to TEA.
DeleteThank you.
The only time I seem to drink tea is if I am among tea drinkers. I spent time in Scotland, loved drinking tea there. It seems like such a genteel thing to do compared to drinking a mug of coffee, which I do here! I enjoyed reading the different teas you mentioned.
ReplyDeletenice...i like a good earl grey on occassion...i am much more a coffee man personally...but when i want to relax a nice tea is def in order...one lump of sugar...
ReplyDelete:-)Thanks Brian.
Deleteyou're funny, janaki hehe i am more of a (addicted) coffee drinker, but tea is not a bad second choice. <3 :-)
ReplyDeleteI love tea and I love this poem. There are so many flavors, but as longs as it's hot and sweet, it's alright with me. :-)
ReplyDeleteDear Janu, your 'ode' to tea may be used by some tea distributing co.Copyright it fast!
