Do I have the authority to judge? Not always.
Do I judge a book by its cover? Not at all. The 'look' of the cover sure does have to make an impression to some extent. I go by the synopsis.
Wish people would come along with a synopsis....then, we can have the idea of what we are getting into, however brief or fleeting it might be.
I do love to read Paulo Coelho. All his books are best sellers. But, not all of them have impressed me. Even the synopsis sometimes can be misleading.
We all wear masks. Some intentional, some - a need, some - to tide over things. We have been taught to wear them. We let our guard down only with the trusted ones.
There are people who make an impression at the very first meeting. With some we just ignite like a house on fire. And, then there are people who fail to make an impression even after a long association.
I have judged people, made that mistake many times. I have been hurt and have hurt too. Perfectionism is subjective. We all have our nuisances. A mistake can be amended. To say we should not have expectations is huge...but, not impossible.
At BlogFEST2012 today Paula would like us to know whether we are judgmental?
ooo i love the graphic there in the end...and ah yeah i wish some people did come with a synopsis but i think we would still miss out on some opportunities to love them...smiles.
ReplyDeleteIt is the uncertainty that makes it more enticing I think. Thanks Brian.
DeleteGreat post, Janu - and I love your idea of people coming with a synopsis!
ReplyDeleteThanks Paula.
DeleteI think having good judgment about people and things is completely different from being judgmental. Really made me think here, Janu!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Thank you Martha...I am beyond judging that's all.
DeleteAmazing post Janu...the mask part is absolutely bang on. Off to write my post on the prompt :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Swarnali.
DeleteI think judging people is just a waste of time. Just look for the good and remember all people are messy. Every single one us has something we should change. We all have 'bad' and 'good' and we are all worth knowing. Now choosing to trust is another matter. That part of the people thing, I think, is earned and proven.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing JO.
DeleteGreat post--we all have judged a book by its cover--including people. I guess it boils down to which book covers we are willing to see past to get the whole story!!
ReplyDeleteTrue. Thanks Jenn.
DeleteWe all wear masks.... yes most of the time.
ReplyDeleteThat would be so helpful if folks around with a synopsis on their foreheads or at least big warning flags! LOL Love it!
